masoala national park is 2175 km2 of tropical wilderness on the roadless edge of antongil bay.

the masoala peninsula, located in northeast madagascar, is one of the most biodiverse places on earth.

masoala national park includes both marine and tropical forest habitats. the tropical rainforests extend from the white sand beaches of the bay of antongil to the mountainous center 1311 m above sea level. within the park, visitors find ecosystems ranging from coral reefs to mid altitude rainforests.

the masoala region is the most humid region in madagascar. september, october and november are the least humid months.

the bay of antongil is just the sort of sheltered place that many of the up to 11 m long humpback whale uses for breeding.
