Tsingy Rouge

Southwards of the main town of Antsiranana and that of the village of Sadjoavato along the RN6, national road n.6, driving off-road on the trail leading in the direction of the village of Irodo takes to the Tsingy Rouge, Red Tsingy, some half hour drive to the east in the direction of the Indian Ocean. Tsingy Rouge is one of the most striking formation of fairy chimneys deriving from the combined eroding action of flowing river, streaming rain and wind sculpting conical shapes in galleys of laterite which affluents flow to the river Irodo which gave the name to the Tsingy as well as to the neighbouring village.
